MYM Sydney's Term 2 Local Connects
Term 2 saw MYM Sydney hold the first ‘in person’ gathering since March, 2020! The three local Connect gatherings were a source of great joy, not only for our team but for the staff and students who attended. To be able to ‘connect’ in person is something we have previously taken for granted. Not anymore! The excitement and ‘buzz’ at each event was palpable!
We are grateful to Marcellin College, Randwick for hosting our local Connect in the Eastern region on Wednesday, 2 June. It was great to see students from Marist Penshurst and Champagnat Catholic College, Pagewood. The MYM Team presented the dilemma that is social media and how to live our best lives whilst ‘online’ using the 5 Marist characteristics as a guide.
Trinity Catholic College, Auburn hosted the largest group of students at the Inner West local Connect on Friday, 11 June. Students from Cerdon College, Merrylands, St Patrick’s College, Dundas, and Parramatta Marist High School took part in the same discussions regarding the use of social media and sort ways to prevent becoming the ‘product’ of the big tech companies.
The Macarthur Connect was hosted by St Gregory’s College, Campbelltown on Friday, 18 June. Twelve students from Mount Carmel Varroville joined in the fun at SGC. We are very grateful for the most delicious spread of ‘goodies’ to make us feel very welcome!
MYM Sydney's Online Super Connect (June)
On Friday, 12 June, the MYM Sydney Team ran our first online Super Connect to celebrate Champagnat Day! It was a great opportunity for our regional Marist schools in NSW and ACT to join in the fun with our Marist schools in Sydney. Congratulations to Tiana from Mount Carmel, Varroville for winning the Marcellin Kahoot competition and well done to all the schools for responding in various ways to the solidarity challenge. Thank you Red Bend Catholic College, Forbes for leading us in a meaningful Acknowledgment of Country. We are grateful for all the teachers that came online to supervise. Thank you for your gracious support!
