Year 8 Forum - The Middle Ground
Year 8 Forum - The Middle Ground
Background
Our Marist Spirituality recognises that each student’s voice and actions really can make a difference for others. This Forum builds the concept of leading from the middle, even without an assigned role or title. Through exploring the Marist Project - the broader work of Marist schools and ministries - students identify that the core of Marist leadership is helping people feel known and loved. Students can influence change from within the community by focussing on their influence. Utilising a style of leadership based on the way they relate to one another, they become active contributors to their Marist school community.
Delivery:
On-site, single day program by MYM team (whole cohort, $7.50/student)
Self-facilitated program by school staff (free of charge)
Vision
Students are empowered to be active contributors to their Marist school community. They feel inspired and motivated to build the Marist project through their actions and participation. They make Jesus known loved, following in the way of Mary and St Marcellin Champagnat.
Outcomes
Students develop their understanding of the Marist project (e.g., Marist schools and communities, ministries, and Solidarity projects) and can identify their place within it.
Students develop a leadership style that creates influence from the middle of their community, focussed on creating positive change in their interpersonal relationships.
Students can articulate the Marist spirituality and can identify ways in which to follow in the way of Mary and St Marcellin Champagnat to make Jesus known and loved.
